Silonexx is an Australian-formulated solvent-borne silane DPC injection fluid for rising damp treatment in masonry walls.
It is designed to penetrate the capillary pore network of masonry and form a continuous hydrophobic zone at the injection depth. That zone functions as a replacement damp-proof course. The chemistry is moisture-activated: as the fluid contacts residual moisture within the wall, it undergoes hydrolysis and bonds covalently to the mineral silica in the substrate. The treated masonry becomes inherently water repellent at the molecular level.
This is Tri-Phase Molecular Technology — capillary penetration, moisture-activated bonding, permanent mineral integration. The wall is not coated or sealed. It is chemically altered.
Silonexx is supplied as a low-viscosity fluid injection system for professional and trade use.
Silonexx is used to create a new chemical damp-proof course inside existing masonry where no effective physical DPC is present, where retrofitting a physical membrane is impractical, or where chemical injection is the specified remedial method.
It is suited to brick, block and mixed masonry construction, with particular application in pre-1960s Australian buildings where lime mortar and dense clay brick are common. Lime mortar is compatible with silane chemistry and often provides the primary distribution pathway for the injection fluid through older walls.
When Silonexx is injected at the correct depth and spacing, it distributes through the masonry pore network under injection pressure.
As the fluid contacts residual moisture in the wall, the silane chemistry activates: hydrolysis occurs, the product condenses onto pore wall surfaces and bonds covalently to the silica in the masonry.
The treated zone becomes permanently hydrophobic at the mineral level. The pore structure is not blocked. The wall continues to breathe.
Silonexx is supplied as a fluid injection system. For professional remedial work, fluid is the appropriate choice.
Fluid injection uses pressure to drive a low-viscosity product through the masonry pore network rapidly and at depth. Distribution is fast, penetration is deep, and the process provides real-time confirmation of product movement at adjacent holes during injection. For a contractor carrying warranty responsibility for the outcome, that confirmation is what makes a treatment defensible.
Cream systems serve a different application. They rely on passive diffusion from the drill hole into surrounding masonry over time, which makes them well suited to smaller jobs, DIY applications and uniform single-skin brick where conditions are predictable and the risk profile is low. Cream has a legitimate place in the market and is available through the Rising Damp Shop.
For professional rising damp treatment in older Australian masonry, particularly pre-1960s construction with dense clay brick, variable absorption or thick walls, fluid injection is the method that delivers consistent, verifiable results.
A chemical DPC treatment that isn’t continuous across the full wall width isn’t a DPC. Moisture will find the untreated pathway and continue rising.
The Silonexx installation specification defines what a correctly completed treatment looks like through the Capillary Saturation Zone standard. Full product saturation across the wall width at injection depth, confirmed by product behaviour at adjacent holes before the injection sequence is closed out. A treatment completed to that standard is warrantable.
